Have you seen...the Gnarls nearby?
They look...like blighted stumps.
They are...symbols of the Elim's...suffering.

Our dead...find no rest. Gnarls are the corpses of Elim.
When the corpses of Elim, dead of dehydration, are touched by Aether...Gnarls are born.
And Gnarls...are dangerously poisonous. They blight the land. The evidence...is all around us.

I've watched them closely. I've discovered that when a Bellepig eats a Gnarl...it becomes a Kurin.
But there's more. When Gnarls suck nutrients from the ground...to create their poison...they spoil the land as well.
For the Bellepigs' sake...and for the sake of the Elim...we must remove the Gnarls.

Lodas discovered that the corpses of Elim had mutated under the influence of Aether to become Gnarls, sucking the nutrients from the earth and destroying the balance of nature. He also discovered that Kurins were created as the result of Bellepigs eating Gnarls.
With a heavy heart, Lodas asked you to hunt the Gnarls that had once been Elim. You removed the Dried Gnarls, as he requested.
