Offer

select_none

Did you just get here, your character? Do you see the mess we're dealing with? The enemy army showed up with a huge weapon!

Get over there and do what you can--we need every hand. Find Centurion William, he'll fill you in.

Dialog

select1

Ah, Spatalos sent you? I'm relieved to see he isn't completely oblivious to the gravity of this situation.

We're in a state of emergency, Daeva. Every second counts, so I'll keep this brief--listen carefully.

Dialog

select1_1

This attack is on a more massive scale than anything we've seen so far. According to our reports, they're sweeping across the land like a plague. We've sent out scouts, but we can't figure out where they're coming from. We need more time!

Our map is useless without knowing exactly where they are and how they're moving. We need to find out exactly where they're mobilizing or else there is no hope of predicting their strategy.

For now, Reported Invasion Site is the only area we know for certain. But, they have to have more bases than that!

Dialog

select1_1_1

Exactly. It won't be easy, but I must ask for your aid. Luckily, we have a few tricks up our sleeve.

Go to Reported Invasion Site, the only place from which we've received solid reports. Once you're there, activate the Infiltration Sensor. The device detects the kind of power the Balaur use, so it may help us trace it back to the source. It might, if we're lucky, even warn us of any approaching Beritra Troops.

Once you've done that, go talk to Beris. He's the soldier who saw the start of it, when they first began sweeping through. He might have an idea of where else to look.

"Faith and arms!"

Dialog

select3

Oh... are you here to ask me about my report? I won't be much help. I'm having trouble remembering...

I saw it. It was huge... It had to have been Beritra! ...No, no, it couldn't have been the Dragon Lord... but, the weapon... it could have been the weapon...

I'm sorry. I was so scared, I thought my heart would stop... I was on duty at Southern Tolbas Forest. I saw it, then... I'm not ashamed to say, I ran. When I looked back, it was gone.

Dialog

select3_1

It happened so fast, I'm not sure if I even saw anything... But I know what I felt, so I reported it anyway. It might be nothing, or... Well, better safe, right?

I can tell you where I saw it, but it's just my Remembered Invasion Site. I wish I could help more. Here, I'll give you my Infiltration Detector. Use it once you get there to verify my report.

Oh, wait! I just remembered! I wasn't alone, someone else was with me.

Dialog

select3_1_1

It's smart of you to ask. I know I'm not a reliable witness, much as I'd like to be.

Guardian Legionary Jenel was there, too. He's known for, ah... personal networking. He knows everything about everyone. He's really perceptive, too, so it's possible he's seen other things... I'm sure he'll be a lot more help to you.

I need to get back to work, now.

"Thank you for your help. I mean that."

Dialog

select5

Ah, you're here to ask me about the weapons? I figured the higher-ups would start moving on that pretty soon. The weapon I saw was there and gone so quickly, I almost doubted my own eyes--but I saw something today I'm absolutely sure of.

I was making my rounds around Cantas Coast, as usual. Suddenly, without warning, one of the massive weapons and several other devices appeared in front of me. Out of nowhere!

I hid, taking stock of what I saw. This was absolutely the work of Beritra. I wanted to get another witness, but before I could reach anyone, they vanished again.

Dialog

select5_1

Almost as quickly as they appeared, yes. I believe the weapons were probably recalled to their base after a set time limit. That would explain why the Infiltration Sensor or the Infiltration Detector don't work.

But there is another way....

I didn't mention it in my report because I was too rattled and too unsure. But I know there were pieces of things left over, debris from the machinery coming through the portal. I think you might find some clues back at the Cantas Coast, where I saw the machinery appear.

"I'll go investigate."

Dialog

select6

(It is the circuit board for a power generator. The generator itself doesn't work, but the memory core seems intact.)

"I guess I should take this memory core."

(It is the circuit board for a power generator. The generator itself doesn't work, but the memory core seems intact.)

"I'll take this one too."

Progress

select_success

Haven't seen you in a while, your character. Spatalos said you're helping them predict Beritra's movements. A nigh-impossible task, given that we have no means of detecting the portals before they open.

I was hoping our sensors would come through... but that doesn't seem to be the case, from the reports I've gotten.

Reward

select_quest_reward1

Is that a memory core...? This could be crucial, your character! Let me see... did you notice the etchings here? Times and coordinates, all in the Balaur script... they're different from the ones on Preserved Circuit and Intact Circuit. The devices must have been programmed with different times and locations... That might be how they're able to open multiple portals!

Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself--I'll look into that later. For now, these items will definitely help us detect the Balaur's portals, perhaps even before they open. Good work!

I've received reports of portals opening in other places too. If you're willing, I'd like to send you to investigate those locations, as well.

Complete

quest_complete

You spoke to Spatalos, who told you there had been reports of massive weapons appearing out of thin air along the coast. You were asked to help predict the invasion pattern by taking an invasion sensor to the last known site to get readings. You tried, but the sensor came up blank.

You went to see Beris, who said that although he had seen the giant weapon appear, the experience had been so traumatic that he was having trouble remembering the details. You went to the area Beris indicated and used the invasion detector, but once again, there were no results. Beris told you he wasn't alone when he saw the weapon, so you went to talk to Guardian Legionary Jenel who said he had witnessed something similar on the Cantas Coast that day.

Jenel said he remembered some equipment being left behind after the weapon vanished, and suggested you look around there. You found parts that looked like memory cores and brought them to Centurion Alisdair, who said they may be crucial in helping predict where and when the portals may appear.
