Dialog

select1

Since you made it to the Abyss, we might as well get you some training. A little knowledge will keep you alive--at least a fraction of a second longer, anyway.

Lots of Daevas think combat is essentially the same whether they're in the Abyss or in Atreia. Those Daevas spend a lot of time talking to the Soul Healers and visiting their Landing, if you know what I mean.

But I don't waste time on Daevas who can't listen. You get this briefing once and once only.

Dialog

select1_1

All right. Listen up, and I'll tell you how to conquer a fortress without getting yourself killed.

And if you survive long enough, I'll show you the benefits of seizing a fortress.

But like I said, I don't repeat myself.

Dialog

select1_1_1

You look eager. But "eager" gets you killed out here.

In a probably futile effort to extend your lifespan, I'm going to send you to the next lesson.

Go to Vicht. He'll drill you on how a fortress's Aetheric Field works.

"On my way."

Dialog

select2

I've been waiting for you, your character. And cheer up--Leban gives that "you're about to die" speech to everyone.

Leban explained how a fortress works, right? Now let's talk about the Aetheric Field that surrounds a fortress.

A fortress's Aetheric Field can be your best friend if you're defending...or your worst enemy if you're attacking. Listen up! I'm going through this only once.

Dialog

select2_1

So the Aetheric Field is important, but it's not exactly complicated, eh?

Your next lesson is the Fortress Gate. Go to Mont--he's our expert.

"On my way."

Dialog

select3

Here for a lesson in Fortress Gates, your character?

If you want to keep the fortress you've got, you have to protect its gate no matter what. And if you're attacking the fortress, you have to destroy its gate. Again, no matter what.

And you can't really understand the Fortress Gate without understanding the Restoration Stone it's connected to.

Dialog

select3_1

Okay, we just covered the Fortress Gate, the Restoration Stone, and the siege weapon. You get all that?

Good. Better to learn it from me than to learn it from the Elyos...the hard way, eh?

Next up: the Guardian General. Report to Abend and pay attention.

"On my way."

Dialog

select4

Azphelumbra, your character. I've been tasked with explaining the Guardian General to you.

Vicht may go on about the Aetheric Field, and Mont can talk endlessly about the gates. But really, you're about to learn the most important aspect of conquering a fortress.

Dialog

select4_1

You got all that, right? Because the Guardian General determines who has the right to occupy a fortress, it's the key to a fortress victory.

But fighting in the Abyss isn't all about fortresses. And that's your next lesson.

Go to Brysa and ask about Artifacts.

"On my way."

Dialog

select5

Here to learn about Artifacts, your character?

I'll bet everyone's been filling your head with fortress-this and fortress-that, but the strongest weapon in the Abyss is the Artifact. With the right Artifact, you can convert defeat into victory in the blink of an eye.

And I know what you're thinking. In the hands of the enemy, an Artifact can do the reverse, too.

Dialog

select5_1

When you're fighting out there, don't forget that timing is key when you activate an Artifact.

You're almost done with the lectures we give new recruits. Your next stop is Eldorey, who will teach you about Kisks.

"I'll go right away."

Dialog

select6

Welcome, your character. You like being alive, right? Then you're gonna love the Kisk.

Simply put, the Kisk is a portable Obelisk that you can set up wherever you want.

In the chaos of the Abyss, having a Kisk is essential.

Dialog

select6_1

Understand why the Kisk is important, eh?

Remember, give careful thought to where you set up a Kisk. It should be close to your objective, but someplace you can defend from enemy counterattacks.

Just one more lesson: Go to Noiman. He's been scouting the Balaur Battleship Dredgion.

"On my way."

Dialog

select7

Well, let's start at the beginning, your character. Do you know what a Dredgion is?

It's the Balaur's most terrifying weapon: a ship that floats through the Abyss, destroying everything in its wake.

Dialog

select7_1

OK, you've run all around Primum hearing these lectures. Good news: You're ready to fight!

But first, go to the Supply Base and meet Quartermaster Spyr. He has gear for those who've completed the basic lectures.

"Blood for blood!"

Progress

select_success

You've heard all the lectures, I suppose?

And let me guess: You're tired of chasing around Primum Fortress. I felt the same way when I first got here.

But if we don't learn about things like fortresses, Artifacts, and Kisks, then the Elyos and Balaur will crush us.

Reward

select_quest_reward1

Here's something we give Daevas once they're ready to fight. Now get out there!

Oh, and if you need a refresher on Abyss warfare, talk to those instructors again. They can remind you of how things work.

Summary

quest_summary
  1. Talk with Leban.

  2. Learn about the fortress Aetheric Field from Vicht.

  3. Learn about the Fortress Gate and the Fortress Gate Restoration Stone from Mont.

  4. Learn about the Guardian General from Abend.

  5. Learn about Artifacts from Brysa.

  6. Learn about the Kisk from Eldorey.

  7. Learn about the Dredgions from Noiman.

  8. Speak to Spyr.

Order: You have to receive basic education in how warfare works in the Abyss. Go to Leban and ask for training.

Complete

quest_complete

You learned how combat in the Abyss is quite different from combat in Atreia.

Instructors at Primum Fortress taught you how to conquer a fortress and how to use new tools of warfare such the Fortress's Aetheric Field, Fortress Gate, Guardian General, Artifact, and Kisk. And you heard about the Balaur Dredgion battleships that wander through the Abyss.

Then you went to Spyr, who congratulated you for completing your training.
