When you brought the materials to Fachmann, he said you need to prove your ability as a Protector and asked you to defend Balaurea.

After defending Balaurea, you returned to Fachmann. He crafted a Daevanion weapon prototype for you and sent you to Skuldun for the soul infusion ritual.
