In fact--because I obviously have nothing better to do--sometimes people even leave me secret messages, and then they ask me to pass them along to certain people who might happen by.

Although if there WAS a message for you, I suppose I would whisper it in your ear, if you leaned in close so no one else could hear it. If there was a message. Which there isn't. Understand?

Sorry about the secrecy, your character. The message is for you, in fact. It's a bit old, but this is the first we've been able to speak privately since I got it, so here it is--they made me memorize it.

"The Field Wardens have urgent need of your presence. Please visit me in Beluslan Fortress. Deryk".

That was the entire message. Are you interested in checking it out right away? Just let me know and I can send you on your way to Beluslan.

Err...I see. Right. Of course you wouldn't do that because I definitely DON'T have a message for you.

Maybe when you have time, come visit me again. If I have a MESSAGE for YOU at that time, I'll whisper it to you. But I don't have a SECRET MESSAGE right now. Not for you. Ahem.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Forgive my impatience. Have you heard of the Field Wardens? We are not nearly as well-known as you, after all.

Our sworn duty is to monitor Asmodae's Aetheric Field. We maintain the Observatories, keep track of...anomalies and ensure that Asmodae's defenses remain stable and strong. Should the Aetheric Field fall, all Asmodae--indeed, all Atreia--might fall with it. Obviously no one wants that to happen.

You should know that the Field Wardens are an autonomous organization. Pandaemonium supports our stated efforts, but does not direct us. Less bureaucracy means more efficiency, which is why I am able to offer you a position with our order right now.
